The South Lexington Civic Association (SLCA) of Lexington, Massachusetts is a volunteer organization which generally monitors and informs south Lexington residents of potential developments and infrastructure issues in the area generally bounded by the City of Waltham on the south and Marrett Road on the north, encompassing Precincts 3 and 9.
Since its inception in the 1950’s, SLCA has considered issues impacting south Lexington residents such as traffic, public transportation, commercial as well as residential developments and sustainability. Most recently SLCA has worked to improve Waltham St., Hayden Ave./Spring St. biopharma projects. SLCA will monitor prospective new housing developments slated for Concord Ave. and Piper Rd. and will look out for other possible housing development zoning proposals in South Lexington resulting from the MBTA Communities Act zoning changes (Spring St./Marrett Rd., Waltham St./Marrett Rd., Waltham St./Concord Ave.).
SLCA operates through its Board of Directors and other member residents, who represent our neighborhoods.
The SLCA Board can represent South Lexington's concerns to:
The Select Board, the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals,
The Lexington Town Manager and Staff,
Elected State Officials, and
Town residents including Town Committees and Town Meeting.
SLCA's Annual Meeting is open to all members of the community and is held in February prior to the Annual Town Election.
